HORARD after the capture fisheries boom that came along with overfishing that led to the dwindling fish stocks on all water bodies in Uganda, HORARD initiated the drive to mobilize the fisheries resource users to promote both small-scale and commercial fish farming in Uganda. 

The cage fish farming requires that you should have access to the lake and this was the biggest nightmare for us and we started at the Masese cooperatives in Jinja with two metallic cages with 7 women and 4 youths. We progressed and harvested 21 tons of fish and bought 3 more cages. After another production cycle, HORARD got a site in Mukono where we now have three plastic cages with stocking rate of 16,000 fish with an output of 6 tons per production cycle per cage. 

the output is helping HORARD in mobilisation and supporting small-scale farmers with capacity training etc.
